25-1634 : Sanders, D, Prior Employee Concerns

This item concerns prior employee concerns raised by Danny Sanders. Sanders was hired by the City of Buffalo in 1985 and worked in various roles, including Public Safety Officer, Supervising Lifeguard, and Truck Driver for the Streets Department. In 2009, he sustained a severe injury while operating a city vehicle, resulting in herniated discs. The city reportedly denied surgery approval for over a year and a half. Three weeks after his surgery in October 2010, Sanders states he was terminated effective November 1, 2010, without formal documentation. He is not seeking back pay or medical compensation but wishes to return to work and retain his normal status to serve out his years for retirement. The item has been repeatedly tabled by the Civil Service Committee since September 2025.
