The City Auditor's Office is requesting to amend the approved Fiscal Year 2026 Audit Work Plan to include a new audit engagement: a Cost Benefit Analysis of the Women, Infant, and Children Program (WIC). This proposal originated from the Government Efficiency Committee meeting on January 12, 2026. The audit will investigate the feasibility of transferring the program to another agency, whether the program recovers its full costs, the financial benefits of providing the service, and the possibility of terminating the current contract with the State. To accommodate this new audit, other planned engagements in the FY2026 plan may be reprioritized or deferred.

This audit will examine the efficiency and financial viability of the WIC program. Residents who rely on the WIC program may see changes in service delivery or administration depending on the audit's findings and recommendations.
