Consider recommending adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract extension between the City of Denton and CJA Enterprises LLP through January 25, 2027, to continue the purchase of construction materials for the City of Denton Streets, Water, Wastewater, and various other departments; and declaring an effective date (IFB 7841 - extending a contract with CJA Enterprises LLP, to January 25, 2027).

The City of Denton is considering an ordinance to extend its contract with CJA Enterprises LLP (IFB 7841) for the supply of construction materials through January 25, 2027. This extension builds upon an original four-year contract, approved on January 25, 2022, which had a combined not-to-exceed amount of $5,200,000.00 (Ordinance 22-138).

The materials are essential for various City departments, including Streets, Water, and Wastewater, supporting the maintenance and reconstruction of infrastructure like streets, sidewalks, drainage structures, and utility lines. The extension, for an additional year, allows for continued purchase of these critical materials and may increase the total contract value by up to 25% (an additional $1,300,000), as permitted by Texas Local Government Code Sec. 252.048. This initiative aligns with the City's goal to enhance infrastructure and mobility, incorporating sustainability measures such as the use of recycled asphalt pavement (R.A.P.) and beneficial reuse of organic materials. Funding for these purchases will be allocated from departmental budgets on an as-needed basis.
