Approves the termination and dissolution of the Broadway Pedestrian Mall Maintenance District A and directing that the remaining funds thereof, after payment of outstanding expenses, be transferred to and used by the Broadway Denver General Improvement District within the property formerly located within said local maintenance district, in Council District 7.

This ordinance approves the termination and dissolution of the Broadway Pedestrian Mall Maintenance District A (Broadway A LMD), which was created in 1998. The Broadway A LMD was responsible for the maintenance of public improvements such as trees, landscaping, planters, trash receptacles, and streetscape furniture along specific sections of South Broadway. The dissolution is occurring because a new entity, the Broadway Denver General Improvement District (Broadway Denver GID), has been created and approved by electors on November 4, 2025. Since all property within the Broadway A LMD is now encompassed by the Broadway Denver GID, this action is taken to avoid duplication of services. Any remaining funds in the Broadway A LMD, after paying outstanding expenses, will be transferred to the Broadway Denver GID and must be used within the former boundaries of the Broadway A LMD. Additionally, a previous ordinance (Ordinance No. 25-1726, Series of 2025) that would have imposed 2026 assessments on property owners within the Broadway A LMD for maintenance costs is repealed, meaning no such assessments will be collected for 2026.

Residents and property owners in the affected area of South Broadway will no longer be assessed for the maintenance of the pedestrian mall through the Broadway A LMD, as the 2026 assessments are repealed. The responsibility for maintenance will transfer to the new Broadway Denver GID, with any remaining funds from the dissolved district being redirected for use in the same area.
