This resolution, introduced by CM Freeman and co-sponsored by CMs Miller and Johnson, honors and commends Joyce Delifus for her service and leadership as President of the Shawn D. Delifus Foundation. The Foundation, established in honor of her late son Shawn, provides swimming lessons, water safety instruction, and lifeguarding courses, particularly in underserved communities. Under Ms. Delifus' leadership, the Foundation has helped nearly 2,000 children and adults learn to swim at no cost and has increased water safety awareness. Ms. Delifus has received recognition for her work, including the Janet Owens Award in 2022 and the Winston YMCA Branch Award in 2025. The resolution acknowledges her dedication to her son's legacy and her commitment to the safety and well-being of Jacksonville residents.
