The City Council will consider a public hearing and introductory ordinance to authorize the City Manager to enter into a lease agreement with United Way of Laredo for approximately 279 sq. ft. of office space (A102) located in the Lamar Bruni Vergara Inner City Library. The lease is for a total amount of $0.00. This space was previously leased to the Literacy Volunteers of Laredo. The agreement is for an initial term ending April 30, 2027, with four automatic one-year renewals, and can be terminated by either party with 30 days' written notice. The City will provide utilities, telephone conduits, janitorial services, and extermination services. United Way will use the space for adult literacy classes, ESL classes, and citizenship/civics classes, and will provide personnel, supplies, and materials for these programs. The agreement is considered an in-kind exchange of services.
