Report of Engineering of Non-Bid Contract for Red Sky Dr Flood Mitigation - 2024. (District 9)

The City of Madison Engineering department completed a flood mitigation project on Red Sky Drive in 2024 to address storm sewer overflows, ponding water, and erosion. The project involved upsizing the public storm pipe to 24" concrete, improving surface collection structures, and repairing the easement, terrace, sidewalk, and pavement. City staff from Engineering Operations performed the work, including removal and installation of the sewer, sidewalk, and pavement, as well as coordinating with residents and Traffic Engineering for streetlight relocation. The final cost of the project was $61,907.29, which is noted as being significantly less than an estimated $85,000 to $100,000 if it had been contracted out. This report fulfills requirements of Wisconsin Statute 62.15(14).
