This item approves Amendment No. 1 to Agreement No. 240079B, updating the research project description for a study on the effects of California's AB 372 Domestic Violence Pilot on probationer outcomes since 2016. The amendment replaces the existing Exhibit A with a revised version dated March 2, 2026. The research, conducted by the California Policy Lab (CPL) at UC Berkeley and UCLA, will analyze local and state criminal justice data, including event-level probation files from 2016-2023, to compare outcomes for individuals treated under the pilot with those sentenced prior to its implementation. The research team, led by Dr. Mia Bird, will also compare recidivism trends for pilot participants against a control group. The findings will be compiled into a report for policymakers. The data will be destroyed upon project completion or termination. This amendment has no fiscal impact.
