A Local Law in relation to a study and report on expediting the child care permitting process

This Local Law mandates the Child Care Advisory Board to conduct a comprehensive study and submit a report on expediting the child care permitting process. The study, due 1 year after the law's immediate effective date, will identify all required permitting steps, pinpoint barriers faced by child care providers (including interagency communication and delays), and solicit input from providers, parents, and advocacy groups. It will provide recommendations to streamline the process while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and building standards. The law is sponsored by Speaker Menin and Council Members Lee, Gutiérrez, Schulman, Hanif, Louis, Encarnación, Ung, Cabán, and Morano.
