A RESOLUTION APPROVING A MORATORIUM OF SIXTY (60) DAYS (UNLESS SOONER TERMINATED) ON THE ACCEPTANCE OF CITY RESIDENTIAL REZONING APPLICATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

This resolution enacts a 60-day moratorium on the acceptance of new residential rezoning applications within the City of Powder Springs, effective February 2, 2026. The moratorium is intended to allow the City time to conduct an inventory of vacant parcels, assess their zoning and compliance with the Comprehensive Plan, and review potential changes to the Comprehensive Plan that may affect residential properties. Additionally, the City will review the financial impact of current development and consider future development mixes for optimal financial positioning. The moratorium can be terminated or extended by a future resolution.

During this 60-day period, residents and developers cannot submit new applications to rezone properties for residential use. This pause is intended to allow the city to update its planning documents and ensure future development aligns with the Comprehensive Plan and financial goals.
