Request for Travel Authorization for Mayor's Staff.

The City Council is asked to authorize travel for Stephen Caines, Chief Innovation Officer and Budget Director in the Mayor's Office, to attend the Bloomberg CityLab event in Madrid, Spain, from April 26-29, 2026. The event brings together global mayors, city innovators, and experts to discuss urban challenges and solutions. Funding for airfare, lodging, and meals will be provided by The Aspen Institute. This travel is consistent with Mr. Caines' role in leading innovation initiatives and budget policy, and will support the City's ongoing innovation efforts, including work related to the GovAI Coalition, by fostering information exchange, best practices, and partnership development.
